Privacy
Personal without becoming a profile.
Neon Memory Archive is designed to remember a visitor’s route inside their own browser while collecting as little personal information as possible.
Who operates the archive
Neon Memory Archive is an independent Hike Beyond editorial project operated from the Netherlands. The website is currently an editorial museum and does not offer accounts, purchases, public posting or a mailing list.
The Memory Passport stays in your browser
The interactive archive can remember visited Memory Files, saved memories, recent pages, private familiarity reactions and guided-route progress. This information is stored in the browser under the local key nma-memory-passport-v1. It is not sent to an NMA account, shared publicly or used to rank other visitors.
You can remove it when you clear site data for neonmemoryarchive.com in your browser. Blocking local storage does not prevent the editorial pages, images or direct navigation from working; it only disables persistent personal progress.
No behavioural analytics or advertising cookies
The current public release does not intentionally run behavioural analytics, advertising pixels, retargeting or third-party advertising cookies. NMA does not sell visitor data and does not publish audience profiles, reaction totals or artificial popularity metrics.
Server requests
The hosting platform necessarily processes technical request data to deliver pages and protect the service. This can include an IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, response status and request time. Such technical logs are controlled by the hosting environment and are not used by NMA to build public visitor profiles.
Google Fonts
The site currently requests typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may receive technical connection data when those font files are requested. The fonts are used for presentation, not advertising or visitor segmentation.
YouTube privacy-enhanced embeds
Video cards initially use imagery already stored in the NMA archive. A YouTube player is created only after a visitor presses play and uses youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube and the uploader then control playback, captions, availability, advertising and any processing associated with the player. A direct link to YouTube is always provided.
External links
Source records, institutional archives, community discussions and social platforms are governed by their own privacy practices. Following an external link leaves Neon Memory Archive.
Children and public submissions
The site does not knowingly collect children’s personal information and does not currently accept public uploads, comments, forms or user-generated profiles. Contribution tools remain disabled until a consent, moderation and rights workflow is operational.
Corrections and rights
Image provenance, external media and correction handling are explained on the Rights, Sources & Corrections page. The current public contact status is listed separately and does not pretend that an inactive mailbox or form is available.
Changes
This notice will be updated before analytics, accounts, mailing lists, forms or public contributions are activated. Last reviewed: 11 August 2026.
